COVID-19 Contingency Plan

For now, we are unsure whether the camp can take place due to the widespread COVID-19 containment measures. Subscribe to the mailing list if you’d like to stay updated on any news.

In the mean time, check out Stone Soup Virtual if you’d like to be inspired and nourished by some extra-ordinary video experiences!

Join the Community

The diverse community is the main value of Stone Soup. Over the last few years we’ve seen, among many others, artists, woodworkers, physicists, any type of designers, entrepreneurs, parents, architects, storytellers and biochemists. Each camp brings together its own inspiring and varied cohort of passionate participants.

You are invited to join a new eclectic group of makers and dreamers creating their own memorable camp in Germany.

Explore your Playground

Next May (from 28/5 to 1/6) we’ll set up camp in Projektraum Drahnsdorf (1 hour from Berlin) and together with you and 45 others we’ll spend 5 days on the perfect canvas of the raw but characteristic nature of the farm.

Co-evolve your Craft

What are you curious to explore and learn? What are you excited to share? At Stone Soup there’s no us and them, we collectively contribute to each other’s learning experience. Workshops, experiences and spontaneous adventures are all initiated by the participants themselves for one big exchange of skills, stories and explorations. Come prepared or co-create spontaneously, don’t be afraid to contribute in any way you like.

Meet the Guides

This camp has been initiated by an enthusiastic group of experienced alumni and designers. They’ll be your primary guides into your Soup journey.

Share expectations

During the weekend, we’re all part of a community. You’re expected to

Attend Fully - Arrive by 4pm, May 28th and stay until noon, June 1

Be Safe - Avoid getting drunk/high/? and practice consent

Cook - Everyone will share in cooking duties.

Eat - All meals are vegetarian and utilize ingredients from the farm.

Clean - Cleaning dishes and spaces, even if you didn’t dirty them.

Start Your Journey

We’ll start our journey one month before the event (end of April) with a webinar introducing Stone Soup, getting to know each other and setting intentions for the weekend. In the month after the Soup, we’ll decompress, reflect and feedback on the process in groups.

At the weekend we’ll aim to have an open sandbox of experiments as much as possible, but we’ll generally plan more structured skill-sharing workshops at the beginning and leave more open space for ad-hoc experimentation towards the middle and end.

Thursday - Arrival at 4pm & Opening Ceremony
Friday - Workshops and skill-sharing
Saturday - Co-creating experiences
Sunday - Sharing experiences and reflection
Monday - Clean-up and departure at 12pm

From previous camps

Next to growth and explorations within the domain of experience design Stone Soup’s camps have over the years proved to also be places that stimulate personal development, experiment with inclusive self-organization, promote inclusive group culture, and propagate play. To give you a sense of what it’s like, here’s a Poland '18 summary by Piotr Migdal and a Netherlands '19 summary by Alexander Gierholz.

“Imagine a retreat with no agenda— where the programming is brought in parcels by the other attendees to create a flexible, organic weekend with design thinking workshops & chakra balancing meditations on equal footing.”

*

“A wonderful mixture between a friend-group weekend, and an international conference.”

*

“It’s amazing how little you need to create something beautiful with enormous impact.”

*

“If people sign up for some random, bottom-up improvised event, for its intrinsic value, well, then it is exactly the self-selected crowd I am looking for.”

*

“The prep work beforehand seemed intimidating […]. It turned out to not really be an issue since so much of it could be improvised once there. It's a great environment to test out ideas and arrive with half-finished projects.”

*

“Of course all the experiences and workshops we did are standing out in my memory because they were amazing, but I also really appreciated the small and meaningful conversations I had with some people.”
